Recap and Lessons of 2020

1/01/2021 04:51:00 pm

Assalamualaikum

Happy new year! May Allah bless us this year. May everything will be better this year too. Don't forget to take care of yourself. Value yourself more than you value others. Remember mental health is as important as physical health.

What a year 2020 has been. There are some things that I’m grateful to experience for the first time. Such as those things I have done in quarantine (click to read about it). Also, nothing is stopping me from browsing and buying things online especially when there’s a sale every month. Well, there’s something for sure: an empty bank account.

Let’s recap this year, shall we?

1/3 of 2020: January – April
  • February: First time went to a salon and get my hair professionally cut
  • March: Made first ceramic, first went to Cameron Highland with my friends, first online class, first lockdown
That’s a lot of firsts in March. Little did past me know that everything would happen so fast. It was a week after we went to Cameron that lockdown happened. Thankful we had time to go there before everything else happened.

COVID-19 widely spread all over the world and we had our country on lockdown. Months spent in a house. Good and bad things happened but they all in the past now. Alhamdulillah, no one in my family gets sick from the virus. I hope you are well too. Don’t forget to wear your mask!

I turned 22 in April. A very normal day without any celebration because of a certain problem. I am grateful I am still alive. Alhamdulillah.

2/3: May – August
  • Jun: First time trying embroidery
  • July: Finished my first paint-by-number
  • August: Hosted my first giveaway
Everything was slowly back to normal. The number of people infected in Malaysia also decreased. There was even a day where the number of people infected is 0. Don’t you guys miss it too? But it was for a short while. Because of selfish people, we are forced to go through it again.

Spent most of my time reading and watching movies/series at this part of the year. Grateful to have a lot of movies/series to watch. Read here if you are interested in knowing what I have watched. This is the time I decided to start writing on my blog again. But well, that is also short-lived.

3/3: September – December
It has been 2 months since I last wrote anything in this blog. It is because I haven’t done anything except for studying. I don’t want to be repeating the same thing over and over again. All I’ve done just went to laboratories for my lab sessions then staying at my residential college and go to my online class. Occasionally my friends and I will go out to eat or buy things and that’s it. Most of the time spent complaining about the quizzes, tests, and assignments we have to complete within the time limit.

It’s pretty boring, right? See I can write what happened in just a paragraph. I don’t want to bore you with the same thing in every post. Maybe next year exciting things will happen to me and I can share them with you. Maybe. Hopefully.

COVID-19 situation? Even worse. Hit the highest number of people infected in the country somewhere in this part. Please wear your mask, take care of yourself! If you didn’t, who else will do it for you? Let’s take a moment to pray for this epidemic to be better or be gone. May Allah eases our life, insyaAllah.

Lesson learned:
  • Overwhelm by the number of works to do? Take a deep breath and start making a list. Sometimes a deep breath is all it takes to chill. If nothing works, go lie down and get yourself together. Do something you like. No one can help you if you didn't help yourself.

Overall 2020 has been an on/off kind of situation. Alas, let’s be thankful that we are still alive now. May 2021 brings us great things. May you get everything you wish for in 2020, InsyaAllah! I am going to get my first nephew next year, InsyaAllah. Please pray that everything will go smoothly for my sister.

How was your 2020? Anything major happened?

Until I write again,
Assalamualaikum

New semester begins

10/18/2020 11:29:00 pm
Assalamualaikum

Tomorrow marks the first day on my new semester. I am entering my third year of degree. I was supposed to be at my university by today as I will have my first class tomorrow. But as you all know, it did not happen as we all thought it would. My uni decided to move the date to the end of this month. Those who have lab, or doesn't have conducive learning environment are required to go back. Except, of course those who are in red zones and who are in CMCO areas.

I have 1 subject that requires our attendance for lab time. By the end of this month, I'll have to be at my uni already. (but that can change any time now) Thankfully, they will send uni buses in every state as they don't let us to use public transport. That's great in case something happens, it will be easier to trace.

As for my preparation, it has been a while since I last study. Since end of June. Almost 4 months now.  Hopefully I'll be able to keep my focus during class. Tulisan pun dah buruk. The thing that has been bothering us for a week now is our class schedule. Most of those in my class have 2 subjects overlap with each other for an hour. An hour is a long time kot. We have two choices: either drop one subject or learn by watching recorded video. Well, we will see what happen this week.

My classes will be running from morning to night. At 11pm the most. Of course, with loads of gaps in between. This is the first time we will have classes at night for 7 consecutive days. The night classes will be just us watching recorded videos. Since this is the first time my uni do this kind of learning, I hope I won't be too lazy to not watch it. My wish for this semester is to learn things effectively. I have 7 subjects (23 unit) this semester. 6 of them are core subjects.

Please take care of yourselves! Wear mask and stay at home unless you really need to go out. Praying for this pandemic to quickly be gone.

Good luck to those who are starting (or already started) new semester!

Until I write again,
Assalamualaikum

Things I have watched during quarantine

9/01/2020 03:44:00 pm

Assalamualaikum

The last time I have done this type of post was in 2018, so I think this is a great time to bring it up again. If you are interested in what I have watched in 2018, you can click here. I have been spending my quarantine watching anime/movie/tv shows either. I am sure most of you are doing the same as I am. Watching things are great especially when having deadline coming. Time2 tu lah waktu yang paling seronok nak tengok cerita. I am grateful sekarang tengah cuti semester, jadi boleh tengok lagi banyak cerita.

Anime:
  • Kimetsu No Yaiba
  • Kiki's Delivery Service (movie)
Tak tahu nak letak Kiki's Delivery Service dalam anime atau movie section. But since it is an anime, I'll just put this here. Cannot believe I only watch 1 anime in span of almost 6 months. I need to step up my game. Currently, I am watching Bleach. Bleach has 300+ episodes and I am now in episode 161. I certainly need a lot of time to finish it.

Movies:
  • Knives Out (usa)
  • Snowpiercer (usa)
  • Fabricated City (korea)
  • The dude in me (korea)
  • Forgotten (korea)
  • No mercy (korea)
  • Inhuman Kiss (thailand)
The list is not as impressive as before as I don't know what to movie ti watch next. I need something that can grasp my attention. If you have any recommendations, please drop-in the comment below. I want to watch a lot more japan movies. Maybe I will find some after I finish watching things I am watching now.

Tv Shows:
  • My Ambulance (thailand) - 16 episodes
  • Girl from Nowhere (thailand) - 13 episodes
  • Ouroboros (japan) - 10 episodes
  • The Originals (usa) - 5 seasons, 20+ episodes per season
  • The Umbrella Academy season 2 (usa) - 10 episodes
  • The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty (china) - 48 episodes
Maybe the reason my list of anime and movies is not as impressive is that I am spending most of my time watching tv shows instead? I took half a year to complete all 5 seasons of The Originals. The main reason is that I stopped subscribing to Netflix for a while. But then I continue subscribing (my sister is paying) and I finally get to finish watching it. Thank you, sister, for your contribution hehe. I am going to review one of these soon!

The last thing I watched was The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty - sebab ada Guan Hong (Hua Ze Lei dari Meteor Garden hehe) turns out the story \ine is way better than I expected. Mungkin sebab producer dia Jackie Chan, jadi jalan cerita pun menarik. Sanggup sis subscribe iQiyi sebab nak tengok cerita ni punya pasal. Tengok cerita China pun sebab nak improve my mandarin. Before this tengok Intense Love, tapi sebab cringe sis abaikan la even though main actor comel hm.. China banyak kot cerita romance tapi cringe. Secondhand embarrassment is a thing you know. Banyak yang kena tinggal suku jalan haha

Have you watched any of these?
What are your thoughts on them? Also, recommend more things to watch, please!

ps: don't forget to enter my giveaway! bookxcess gift cards are waiting for you. remember, the giveaway is automatically cancel if the participants are less than 20
